The 2s travelled to top of the league Thirsk 1s knowing a tough game was likely. The game started and both teams looked to move the ball forward quickly but both defences held firm.

Anderson had a drag flick heading towards the top corner expertly saved by the defender on the line. This was followed by a missed call by the umpire led to Thirsk getting an attacking free hit which was worked into the D. An interception by Coates feel kindly to the Thirsk striker to score the opener. A second soon followed when Bell slipped having got in front of the attacker and a quick break was powered pasta helpless Hibbert in goal to make it 2-0. Stokesley kept going and created some chances which were unfortunately kept out by the obdurate Thirsk defence.

A change of formation at half time led to Stokesley creating more chances and looking the more likely to score, however Thirsk had a raft of pace and were always dangerous on the counter. This was evident when the Thirsk attackers pounced on a couple of mistakes from the Stokesley defence and, coupled with some questionable decisions by the Thirsk umpires, found the net both times. 4-0 and Stokesley kept going, winning a number of short corners but couldn't find a way past the inspired Thirsk keeper.

Another kindly decision led to one last Thirsk short corner which was flicked into the back of the net. 5-0 to Thirsk in the end and a learning curve for the young (and old) Stokesley 2s.
