Stokesley 2–4 Tynedale

Stokesley faced a tough test against a strong Tynedale side, with several new faces continuing to settle into the team and a number of players operating out of position due to availability.

Tynedale created the better opportunities during the opening stages, repeatedly looking to exploit space with quick counter-attacks. Stokesley’s defensive unit stood firm, dealing well with the pressure and showing plenty of resilience to keep the visitors at bay.

Tynedale eventually broke through to take the lead, but Stokesley responded almost immediately. Ali Anderson produced an excellent counter-attacking breakaway before finishing brilliantly to bring the scores level.

Tynedale started the second half strongly and regained the lead early on. Stokesley responded once again, with Ali Anderson converting a short corner to make it 2–2. It was the second consecutive game in which Ali has found the net from a short corner.

The game took a more serious turn midway through the second half when two players collided, resulting in an extended stoppage and tempers beginning to flare. Both players received yellow cards, while Stokesley midfielder Shaun Wallace suffered a nasty cut to the nose and was forced to leave the game for some much-needed hospital attention.

Thankfully, Shaun is recovering well and is back on the mend. He is now proudly sporting a rather fetching flowery plaster. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch soon.

Once play resumed, Tynedale continued to make good use of counter-attacks and attacking overloads. A few temporary lapses in concentration allowed them to capitalise on their opportunities, making the final scoreline a little harder for Stokesley to take.

The final moment of the match provided one last positive. With Tynedale awarded a penalty flick as the final whistle was blown, Hibs produced an excellent save to deny the opportunity and prevent the visitors from extending their lead further.

The match finished Stokesley 2–4 Tynedale, but there is plenty to build on ahead of the next fixture. With new players continuing to settle into the team and players able to return to their more natural positions as availability improves, the 2s can take plenty of encouragement from the performance.
