Stokesley Juniors Show Promising Signs Against Durham City Juniors
Sunday 25th October 2026
Stokesley Juniors took on Durham City Juniors in an enjoyable match that was played in great spirit from start to finish.
Despite the challenging gusts of wind, both teams produced some good hockey, making excellent use of the wings and looking to move the ball into space. There was plenty of effort and commitment on show from both sides, with some encouraging passages of play throughout the game.
Durham City opened the scoring with a well-worked short-corner routine before extending their lead with a quickfire attack. Stokesley responded positively, pulling a goal back with a good counter-attack that made excellent use of the width of the pitch. Durham City added a couple more goals to secure the win, but the final score only tells a small part of the story.
For Stokesley, the real positives were the commitment shown by the players and the encouraging signs of development in their passing, dribbling and use of space. These are the things that matter most at junior level, as the players continue to learn, grow and build confidence on the pitch.
Stokesley are a young side with plenty of promise, and performances like this provide valuable experience to help them develop further. The team can take plenty of positives from the match as they look ahead to their next opponents, eager to keep improving and building confidence with every game.
Well done to both sides for an entertaining match played in the right spirit. Plenty of positives to take away, and lots more to look forward to from Stokesley Juniors!
