MOM: Gavin Coats

Goals: Christopher Heayns

Stokesley 2s faced a tough afternoon on the road against a strong Jesmond side, with a depleted squad forcing several players to step in outside their usual positions.

Jesmond made a fast start, finding an early goal that set the tone for much of the first half. Despite plenty of determined defending from Stokesley, including last-ditch tackles and some good work from the defensive unit, Jesmond proved too strong before the break, building a comfortable 3–0 lead. Matt Hibbert was kept busy in the Stokesley goal, making a number of saves to prevent the hosts from extending their advantage further.

Stokesley showed greater resilience in the second half, putting in another strong defensive shift while looking for opportunities to get back into the game. Their efforts were rewarded when Chris Heayns found the net with a cheeky finish, finally converting after several earlier one-on-one attempts had failed to find the target.

Jesmond continued to apply pressure and added a fourth with five minutes remaining to round off the scoring.

Another difficult afternoon for the 2s against a very strong side who have dropped into the division this season. Despite the result, Stokesley continued to battle throughout and managed to get a goal on the board against tough opposition.

It also appeared to be a day where Dan Walker's Gym sessions are starting to show, the rest of the team were not at his level! 😂
