First game of the season for the salamanders away at York with an early afternoon kick off. The game started positive with well structured attacks from both teams but with minimal subs stokesley grew tired and a deflection into the D won York a short corner. Unfortunately a well placed drag flick slipped straight through the runners and the keepers 1-0 to city of York.

From there it began to go wrong. Ball after ball York couldn’t be stopped with well placed injections into the D and deflections straight into the corners they quickly took the lead by a significant amount.

The second half started no better for stokesley. Their own plan from the previous season used against them. An aerial from push back straight past the new captain Dawson who mistrapped it twice leading to another goal for York.

York didn’t slow down finishing the match 9-0 but all was made better back at the clubhouse where post match pizza beat the expectations from last years jacket potatoes.
